Work
My practice explores the relationship between the human figure and interior experience. While grounded in figurative traditions, the work is less concerned with the representation of the body than with the emotional and psychological states it can evoke.
Using the figure as a threshold, I explore what lies beneath appearance – memory, grief, longing, vulnerability, and reflection. Rather than depicting individuals, the work invites an encounter with shared yet often unspoken aspects of human experience.
Through layered applications of graphite, shellac, and monochromatic oil glazes, I develop surfaces that reflect the instability of memory and the fragmentary nature of perception. Images emerge, recede, and remain intentionally unresolved, creating space for contemplation rather than certainty.
